NATRUE: Support for the approval of raw materials | | Dear
As an accredited inspection and certification body of the NATRUE label, we are contacting you with an offer.
Various raw materials that you produce or trade are used in NATRUE certified cosmetic products. | | Until now you had the option to either directly have your raw materials certified according to the NATRUE Standard and thus you have been listed on the published «NATRUE raw material» list – or the manufacturer had to obtain approval for the raw materials used in their product formulation which meant that as a supplier/distributor you may have had to provide documents multiple times to a range of different manufacturers.
Recently, the raw materials must be approved by a «raw materials approval» at their manufacturers or distributors. bio.inspecta would like to support you in this new process.
Exceptions only apply to organic raw materials. Thus, four cases are differentiated according to the decision tree
| | Case 1 – All non-organic raw materials | | All these substances are evaluated and approved every two years by a document check. There is no requirement for an audit. | | Case 2 – Organic raw materials certified according to the IFOAM Family of Standards | | Organic raw materials, certified according to a standard of the IFOAM Family of Standards (e.g. Regulation (EC) No. 834/2007, Swiss Organic Regulation or NOP), are now approved without any further steps. No approval is required. | | Case 3 - Organic raw materials that were originally certified according to the IFOAM Family of Standards | | Raw materials that were originally certified according to the IFOAM Family of Standards but are no longer certified due to a processing step or an additive: Approval is necessary, and an audit is required in the first year. | | Case 4 – Organic raw materials not certified according to the IFOAM Family of Standards | | For organic raw materials that cannot be certified according to an IFOAM- standard, a NATRUE certification is necessary. Additionally, an evaluation or re-evaluation and audit is carried out every two years. | | All approved or certified raw materials are included in a list that is freely accessible on the NATRUE website. For that you only need to submit the documents once and get the raw material approved by an accredited NATRUE certifier.
| | bio.inspecta AG is part of the Easy-Cert group AG, Switzerland’s largest certifier and also operates internationally. We have been a NATRUE approved certifier for many years. Our team has long-standing experience in the area of natural cosmetics.

Please note that NATRUE charges a label fee of EUR 50.– per raw material. This fee is due every two years and is charged directly by NATRUE.
