News on EU Increased Control Measures | | Dear customers,
We would like to inform you about increased control measures defined by the EU for certain products imported from certain countries to the EU for the time period 01.07. – 31.12.2022. Such measures are requested by the EU since 2016, based on findings of unallowed substances in imported products. From the second half of this year, the concerned products and countries have substantially changed. Please find the respective letter from the EU on our homepage, under | | Important notes for all bio.inspecta clients: | | - Products form Moldova and Ukraine are no more concerned by the increased control measures.
- The range of products concerned in Kazakhstan and Turkey has changed.
- Certain products from Ethiopia are concerned by the increased control measures.
- The increased control measures are applicable also if a product is not imported directly from the concerned country to the EU, but through an operator situated in another country.
- For the products concerned, sampling/analysis for the first COI requested after 01.07.22 will be compulsory. Please make sure to consider sufficient time before the planned export to send the sampling request to bio.inspecta.
- All our clients are kindly requested to use the updated versions of the COI request form 25_054 and sampling request form 25_053
| | Increased control measures, concerned operators and products: | | The requirements on increased control measures apply to certain products originating from certain countries. They are applicable for operators producing, preparing, trading, storing, or exporting organic food and feed.
| | Increased control measures, what is required: | | - At least 2 physical inspections per year, one of these unannounced.
- Inspection before sowing of the first certified crop for farms certified for the first time.
- At least one sample per year (for producers, it is compulsory to be a field crop sample). This requirement is without prejudice to the export consignment sampling.
- Increased control on traceability and flow of products.
- Increased control on bookkeeping and financial documentation (accounting).
- Increased control on means of transport and storages.
- Information must be kept ready for inspection about all sales of organic products as conventional, including quantities and names of buyers.
- Export consignment sampling and analysis assessment before issuing a COI: For the products defined above, a minimum of 10% of all export consignments needs to be sampled and analysed for the presence of unallowed substances. The percentage is calculated for each concerned product of each concerned operator for the period between 01.07.22-31.12.22. It is compulsory for the first COI for a concerned product requested after 01.07.22 to do the sampling and analysis.
