EBC Expert Group to accompany the further development of the EBC

The guidelines of the European Biochar Certificate (EBC) are being increasingly adopted by businesses and represent quality in the production of high-grade biochar and persistent carbon sinks. The structured and broadly supported further development of the EBC guidelines is becoming increasingly important.

Carbon Standards International and the European Biochar Industry Consortium (EBI) are establishing an EBC Expert Group. The new EBC Expert Group consists of 6 members and will commence its work on July 1st, 2023.

The tasks of the EBC Expert Group

The EBC Expert Group accompanies the further development of the EBC by reviewing and evaluating new proposals for advancements and new versions of the EBC standards. The assessment takes into account both the technical expertise in biochar production and the requirements of the market and industry.

For the further development of the EBC and, for example, the creation of new EBC classes, it is crucial to involve the voice of the industry right from the start, in addition to the Scientific Committee. I am delighted that we have been able to recruit five exceptional experts and outstanding individuals to contribute to the advancement of the EBC in the EBC Expert Group.

It is beneficial to have this expert body that continuously evaluates proposals from manufacturers, processors, distributors, professional associations, and institutions in addition to Carbon Standards International.
