IBI Study Tour – The program | | As part of the IBI Study Tour from September 27th to 29th, 2023, an exciting program awaits you, focusing on the following topics: production of biochar using leading pyrolysis plants, application of biochar on an agricultural farm and in concrete, generation of CO₂ certificates, and energy production.
| | | On the first day, we will visit Bioenergie Frauenfeld, where biochar is produced from residual wood in a wood power plant using pyrolysis. You will learn how the resulting gas is converted into renewable energy and fed into the power grid as green electricity. The heat is used as renewable energy in Switzerland’s only sugar factory, “Schweizer Zucker”, and in the district heating network of the Canton of Thurgau, “Thurplus”. | | | Next, we will visit Jucker Farm. This agricultural farm produces Terra Preta using biochar and successfully applies it to its fields. | | | On the second day, we will head to the Canton of Graubünden. There, we will visit a sawmill that not only produces wood pellets and boards from regional wood but also biochar, electricity, and heat. | | | At Inkoh in Maienfeld, biochar is produced from residual wood, and with it, a 100% climate-neutral concrete is manufactured on-site, the first of its kind. We will tour the production facilities of biochar and concrete and learn how this application generates CO₂ certificates. | | On the third day, exciting presentations will be held. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to participate in training as a C-Sink Manager according to the Global Artisan C-Sink Guidelines.
| | We are looking forward to your participation.
