News: We present – the new Global C-Sink Registry

The time has come – the new Global C-Sink Registry is live and already in use.

The new structure and modern design provide the best basis for the best user experience while setting new standards in the industry.

What does the Global C-Sink Registry offer?

The Global C-Sink Registry was developed to enter and publicly list C-sinks from various methodologies. Before the entry, all C-sinks are independently validated by a Certification Body and can then be used for retirements to compensate the global warming effect of greenhouse gas emissions. The Global C-Sink Registry is based on blockchain technology and uses an automated system to record all C-sinks electronically. This ensures that all C-sinks are listed in the Global C-Sink Registry for at least the duration of their climate cooling effect. The methodologies adhere to the Global C-Sink Standards developed by Ithaka Institute and Carbon Standards.

The Global C-Sink Tool as backbone

The management of quantities, the realization of C-sinks with application into matrices as well as the validation process take place in the password-protected Global C-Sink Tool, which is directly connected to the public Global C-Sink Registry and offers direct connection to dMRV providers.

How will the transition phase be organized?

Continuously, our previous Carbon Sink Registry is now being replaced. Individual projects and C-sinks have already found their way into the Global C-Sink Registry. Starting from a certain date, new C-sinks will only be recorded in the Global C-Sink Registry with the involvement of our accredited EBC C-Sink Brokers and endorsed C-Sink Managers. The Carbon Sink Registry will remain available, but no new C-sinks will be entered.
