Transition from bio.inspecta Organic Standard (bi-OS) to the new EU Organic Regulation (EU) 2018/848 | | | Dear operators,
bio.inspecta AG is delighted to announce it has been recognized by the European Commission in several countries and scopes of the new EU Organic Regulation (EU) 2018/848; The detail of the scopes and countries are available under the following link. | | | Please be aware that any operator which is not certified according to the new EU Reg. (2018/848) by 01.01.2025 and wishing to continue exporting organic products to any EU member states in 2025, needs to be under new inspection / certification regime (2018/848) from 01.01.2025 and it must be certified latest by 15.10.2025. bio.inspecta AG has prepared a schedule for switching the operation to the new Regulation. You will get a detailed program in few days.
Meanwhile to ensure a smooth transition to the new EU Reg. (2018/848) and maintain your market opportunities, we kindly request you to please fill out the new registration form and send it to the following address international@bio-inspecta.ch as soon as possible. | | | For the data sheets please at least fill out the below listed sections as the minimum requirements (see points 1, 2 and 3 of this newsletter) of the corresponding data sheets for your operation and send them back to the international@bio-inspecta.ch. In case that you are not able to complete the data sheet before the inspection, our inspectors will support you during the inspection. | | | Attention: In case of any changes during the year (change in address, organization, facilities, subcontrators, areas, precautionary measures), please provide an updated Data Sheet to bio.inspecta before implementation of the change. Not announcing of changed activities might lead to sanctions. | | 1. Data sheet section: Basic information | | | Please enter the information needed in the Basic information section of each data sheet that applies to your operation. | | 2. Data sheet section: Precautionary measures | | | The new Regulation requests from the operators to take precautionary measures at every stage of production, preparation and distribution to avoid contamination and commingling with products or substances not authorized.
Operators must develop a quality assurance system with measures that are proportionate and appropriate to identify and avoid risks of contamination and commingling, including systematic identification of critical procedural steps.
The measures must be regularly reviewed and adjusted. As a help for inspection and certification the operator can use the excel document “24_2001 Checklist – Precautionary measures” and fill out the respective section in the Datasheet:
| | 3. Data sheet section: Subcontracting | | | If any activities are subcontracted to a third party, this operator either must be certified, or included in your certification.
For subcontractors included in your certification, a contract must be signed, confirming that the subcontractor's activities will be subject to the control procedure according to Reg. (EU) 2018/848 (or other relevant standards, such as Bio Suisse). Such subcontractors should grant access to the bio.inspecta inspectors any time and need to be visited at least once annually by bio.inspecta.
