Use our updated templates for the Global Biochar C-Sink and the EBC C-Sink Standard

The sale of carbon sinks (C-sinks) has grown steadily in recent years and continues to grow strongly. A high level of credibility of the realized C-sinks and transparency of the projects are becoming increasingly important in the market. We therefore adapted our documents and processes accordingly in February of this year.

The Global Biochar C-Sink Standard, which has been in force since July 1, 2024, requires biochar-producing companies to prepare a Project Design Document (PDD) in English. This document describes how the biochar is produced and for which areas of application it is intended. The updated template is now available on our website.

In the course of this we have also adapted the PDD for the EBC C-sink. The most important change is that we have adapted the additionality check to the additionality check of the Global Biochar C-sink standard.

Please send PDDs that are ready for validation to service@carbon-standards.com and climate@ceres-cert.de .

Transition period: For companies already certified according to EBC C-Sink, there is a voluntary transition period to apply the Global Biochar C-Sink Standard until March 1, 2025. However, the standard can also be applied earlier for newly registered production batches.
