Global Biochar C-Sink Standard comes into force on 01.03.2025

As already stated in the CSI Newsletter of 16.12.2024, the transition period ends on 28.02.2025 and the EBC C-Sink Standard will be replaced by the Global Biochar Standard V3.1.
In accordance with the new standard, C sinks will only be issued if a validated PDD (Project Design Document) is available.

We kindly ask you to submit the PDD and/or the processor annex to the PDD according to Global Biochar C-sink Standard V3.0 or V3.1 to us as soon as possible.

We would like to point out that project documents according to the EBC-C-sink standard will NO longer be reviewed.
Please note that, in accordance with EBC-C-sink standard, validated PDDs must be revised and resubmitted.

Please note that validation will take some time. You can speed up the process by ensuring that all project documents are correct and submitted in full (including attachments). This will make the process more efficient, avoid delays and therefore minimize the validation costs.

It is strongly recommended to submit the documents in advance to Carbon Standards (PDD Pre-screening) at service@carbon-standards.com and to clarify open questions/uncertainties with the CSI experts in advance.
