Check if your suppliers have a valid organic certificate!

Dear operators

We would like to draw your attention to the following situation:

Control bodies that were approved under 834/2007 but did not go through the re-approval process under 2018/848 would no longer be able to issue valid organic certifications, meaning their operators would not be able to sell products as organic in the EU.

So, for any goods purchased after December 31, 2024, you’ll need to:

• Confirm that the supplier is certified by a control body listed under the updated list in (EU) 2021/1378

AND

• Verify that the supplier's certificate is still valid, either under 834/2007 or under 2018/848.

Any product bought after the 31.12.2024 from a supplier not meeting these conditions will not be considered as organic and COIs cannot be issued for the EU.

It's important for both buyers and suppliers to be aware of these updated rules to ensure compliance and avoid confusion or issues with certification.
