We would like to inform you about two topics concerning the Biochar Tool:

Introduction of the emissions portfolio of the Global Biochar C-Sink Standard

We are pleased to announce that a new function for the recording of your production emissions is now available in the Biochar Tool.

With the Global Biochar C-Sink Standard, we have introduced the recording of emissions in emission portfolios. These show a clear overview of the production emissions that must be regularly offset for C-sink registration.

You will find the emissions portfolio as a separate navigation menu item in the Biochar tool (see image), which offers you the following advantages:

It lists the emissions generated by the effective biochar production volumes up to the factory gate, divided into CO2 (carbon dioxide) and CH4 (methane) in a comprehensive way.

It also shows the conversion of methane emissions into absolute global warming potential, which is relevant for offsetting methane.

Please book the effective production quantities in the "Stock" navigation menu at least quarterly. The stock entries will be listed in the emissions portfolio after successful batch certification.
The certification body will check the production volumes and the emissions caused during the next audit.

Outlook: The emissions portfolio will soon be available in an expanded form in the Global C-Sink Tool. There it will be possible to offset the emissions generated with your own or purchased sinks.
