Success Story: Sonnenerde Opens New Biochar Plant for Certified Carbon Sinks

The collaboration between Sonnenerde and Carbon Standards International has already demonstrated the potential of certified biochar for climate protection.

Now comes another significant step: the inauguration of the new Sonnenerde production facility as part of the EU-funded LIFE Carbon Farming project. The facility will enable the certified production of EBC biochar in even larger quantities and at fair prices, which is of interest for use in various Sonnenerde products and also for agriculture.

Following a successful delegation trip to Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore, the Swiss-Austrian company is forging strategic partnerships to promote the European Biochar Certificate (EBC).

During a recent trip to Asia, Ueli Steiner (CEO) and Georg Gerharter (Member of the Board of Directors of the EASY-CERT group) held important discussions aimed at establishing the European Biochar Certificate in Japan, Taiwan, and
Singapore – promoting the use of biochar as a climate-friendly resource.
