News from Carbon Standards International | | | Good day ,
There’s been plenty of exciting activity at Carbon Standards International in recent weeks – explore our latest highlights, insights, and new team members! | | Publication of the Global Construction C-Sink Standard | | | The Global Construction C-Sink Standard verifies buildings and structures that incorporate carbon-storing materials (C-sink materials) derived from biomass.
Developed in collaboration with the Ithaka Institute for Carbon Strategies and OPENLY, the Construction C-Sink Standard can be broadly applied across the construction sector. All buildings that include biomass-based materials such as hemp, straw, biochar, and others can be certified as carbon sinks (C-sinks).
The first Carbon Sink according to the Global Construction C-Sink Standard has already been issued. | | | | | | | Welcome to the team - Robin Werren | | Robin supports us as a Product Manager Construction and brings valuable experience in project management as well as a Bachelor of Science in Wood Technology. | | Welcome to the team – Anna Schniepper | | Anna supports us as a Key Account Manager and brings valuable experience in project and stakeholder management from around the world. | | | | | Welcome to the team - Kubilay Tok | | Kubilay supports us as a Chief Strategic Alliances Officer. Their program included meetings in Frick, visits to Sonnenerde (Austria) and Energy Ocean (Switzerland), and a mountain hike above Kandersteg. | | | | Calibration of Measurement Equipments for Global C-Sink Standards | | | On our website, you will now find a new category called “Principles and Requirements” under General Documents. | | | | | Here, we will publish documents that are relevant to all of our standards. The first document in this category deals with the calibration of measurement equipments.
| | | | | Monitoring data is used to calculate the size of a C-sink and the emissions produced during C-sink establishment. Some of this data is collected by the operators themselves using measuring equipments. It is essential that these measuring equipments are calibrated to ensure that they function correctly and that carbon sinks are calculated accurately. During on-site audits, the VVBs will verify that calibration of all measuring equipment was performed and documented. | | | Kind regards,
