New Verification Requirement – Calibration of Measurement Equipment

Good day,

At CERES-CERT AG, we are committed to continuously improving our verification services in line with the requirements of Carbon Standards International (CSI).
We would like to inform you of a new standard requirement concerning the calibration of measurement instruments for C-Sink verification.

This update helps strengthen data integrity and ensures that all monitoring results remain accurate, consistent, and verifiable.

What’s Changing

Starting January 1, 2026, our auditors will verify that all measuring devices — such as moisture analyzers and weighing balances — are correctly calibrated and calibration records are maintained in line with the applicable standards.

What You Should do

Please make sure that:

  • your instruments are calibrated according to manufacturer specifications or applicable national/regional standards, and
  • calibration records are properly documented and available during the audit.

This requirement is outlined on the CSI website, 4000225EN Clarification: Calibration of Measurement Equipment, and applies to both Global Biochar C-Sink and Artisan C-Sink projects.

CSI Website

Why It Matters

Accurate calibration is essential for the credibility and precision of all C-Sink data. Even minor deviations in measurement instruments can significantly affect the calculated carbon storage and emission values. Accurate calibration of measurement equipment strengthens the reliability of results and is indispensable for a smooth, transparent, and credible C-Sink verification process.

If you have any questions or require further information regarding the calibration requirements, our team, together with the team at Carbon Standards International, will be happy to assist you.

Best regards,
Your CERES-CERT Team

Neue Verifizierungsanforderung – Messgeräte-Kalibrierung

Guten Tag,

Was ändert sich?

Was Sie tun sollten
